And the changes continue

Ok!!! So, a little update...while in the U.S. Virgin Islands, I worked every day, standby for 12 hrs, work for 2-4. Not bad considering we were done by 1400 and off to the beach! It was a good experience working a detail for the new Vice President (Elect at the time). St. Thomas is beautiful but the locals are jerks. There is absolutely no customer service. Oh well, what can you do?

Then it was off to Eglin AFB in Ft. Walton Beach, Fl for some training. Not something I wanted to do, but it's mandatory. The info was dull, dry and boring and I wanted to poke my eyes out with a sharp stick, but I made it through and made some new friends along the way. A highlight to my stay was a trip to the gym. I hate going to the gym-it's crowded, someone's always on the squat rack, guys tryin to talk to me while I try to work out-so just to do something, I decided I didn't wanna conjure up a workout so I'd just do whatever my friend did. It ended up being an "ab workout." We were doing all this boring pointless crap when I decided to go grab a dumbbell so we could do some circle sit ups. On my journey I FOUND KETTLEBELLS! I said, "Sorry dude, I'm not working out with you anymore," and left. I then had a smile ear to ear and hit up the gym every day up until I got sick. BOO! I think I got some sort of sinus infection (my fault) so it put a stop to my only fun at this training...swingin' bells around. Going to Eglin also gave me a chance to catch up with some old friends I hadn't seen in years. I made a trip down to Panama City and saw a friend down there who may have hooked me up for a PCS (move) to Florida. I'll keep you posted.

Now I'm in Washington D.C. We worked a couple events for the Inauguration and being that there were over 142 EOD teams here, I made some more friends and caught up with some old as well. This month hasn't been too bad. I head home Thursday and will start packing my stuff to move out of my house. I still have no place to go, but I'm going to get all the non essential stuff out of the way.

I have a friend watching my dogs, but one of my wonderful (not) roommates left the back gate open when he was moving his stuff out so when my friend went to let the dogs out they ran out the gate and apparently didn't come back for half the day. When I heard that I was NOT happy. But they're home safe and sound so all is well there.

27 Jan 09-I wrote most of this at the Inauguration...I'm home now...

As for my friend hooking me up with a PCS...his name is KJ and is a retired AF Senior Master Sergeant working as an instructor for our new pre deployment training at Tyndall AFB in Panama City, FL. While in D.C. he text me and asked if I would like a position as an Active Duty instructor up there. I'm still up in the air about going, but if I want the job, it's pretty much in the bag. I have a retired SMSgt and CMSgt going to the current Active CMSgt saying I'm he one he should choose.

I've done a pros and cons list and still can't decide if it's REALLY what I want to do. The pros...I've been here for 3 yrs-time for change; I can get a new client base who only knows me as a KB instructor-not my buddy who's going to train me for free; Florida is awesome; Becoming an instructor will help me in the future if/when I go for Senior and Chief; It's pretty much a 9-5 so I could press on with my degree. The cons...I just started getting to the very end of closing on a house I bid on-I knew I would close and then get orders! It's an instructor position, 9-5, I'm afraid it would be entirely too monotonous and boring; I'm not sure of the deployment cycle, but if I can't deploy, I'm not going; I may have to extend to take this assignment which I think will mess with me getting a re-enlistment bonus. Nellis isn't that bad, I'm in a groove here. I think I need to do a little more research. :)

Ok, so no one wants to read a book...I'll keep you posted!

Crazy, Hectic and Frustrated

For those of you who don't know me well or have lost touch, I just got back from Iraq a little over a month ago.

For the first few weeks I did my best to relax and decompress. Needless to say with the lack of sleep and everything else, my training suffered. This made me feel even more crappy than I had already felt and I lost a lot of motivation for everything in my life. I also had a couple people contact me for training, but I just didn't feel 100%. If I can't give 100% to my clients, what good am I? So I communicated with them a lot to let them know I'm not blowing them off, I just need to get my life back on track.

I've been doing what I need to do to get my life back on track and things started getting a lot better for me and I was eager to start training others. Well, yippideedoo, guess what? I'm traveling for the next month!

So the things I'm dealing with now are:

1. My lease is up in Feb. I put an offer on a house here that is a short sale. WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO APPROVE? If it's not before my lease is up, I'm going to have to do something so I'm not out in the street...I have a lot of KBs to haul around. :)

2. I'm traveling for work for the next month. Now while I can't complain that I will be in the Virgin Islands for 11 days, Ft. Walton Beach, Fl for 14 days and Washington D.C. for 6 days, it's putting me home at the end of Jan and a quick move out of here into a new house is not exactly what I want to do, but it is definitely a reality.

3. I had lost my motivation for everything and am now trying to get back into loving what I do again. It's a tough journey, but I think I'm getting back on the right path.

I just can't wait to have my housing problem solved and get into training others. Guess I'm waiting on that one, huh?
